Lebanon Junior Soccer Club - Club Award
Jason Merritt

Another one of our LJSC Club Awards goes to a coach and Board member who also has spent countless hours helping out our Club.

He coaches the U-10 Girls Comp team, a job held for the last two years.  He also takes the same team and practices them throughout the winter, spring and summer, and enters them into many tournaments, giving them the best competitive situations to improve their abilities.

Before this he coached in the Kindergarten and U-8 levels.

He is also our Equipment Director, controlling all the equipment for the entire LJSC and coordinating the supplies of all coaches bags, balls, goals, etc.

He also jumped in and coached a U-8 Girls team when a shortage of coaches might have caused us to run the U-8 Girls program with only two coaches for 30+ girls.

He also helped set up and take down equipment for the :LJSC Under the Lights" event even though his team did not get the opportunity to play.

Additionally, he will also serve as LJSC Vice President for 2007.

The LJSC awards Jason Merritt its 2006 Club Award for his unending efforts and help making us a better Club for the children of Lebanon.

Lebanon Junior Soccer Club - Club Award
Carri and Frank Lineberry

One of our LJSC Club Awards goes to a Husband and Wife team who are relatively new to LJSC but gave and enormous amount of their time and energy to make our club better for the youths of Lebanon.

Together they coached a U-10 Girls rec team this fall, attending all pre-season meetings and informational classes as well as jumping head first into providing a quality learning and playing atmosphere for their players.

They, along with Tom Hennessey and Tom Bennett, set up all the fields at the Lebanon Elementary School in August.  Without their help, both Toms would have had a VERY long day trying to get this job done.  MOREOVER, they have already contacted Tom about the field takedown on the 11th.

They sold the most tickets of any team for the LJSC/Lion's Breakfast.

They were also at the LJSC/Lion's Breakfast for the ENITRE four plus hours; serving, setting up, cleaning tables, breaking down equipment and sweeping floors.

They also volunteered in the Concession Booth for the Lebanon Fun Day and made runs to the LGM to replenish supplies.

The LJSC thanks Carri and Frank Lineberry.  They personify what it means to coach, volunteer and help out in many ways in our club.  They are a great example of a couple's energy and drive to make our Club better.  Frank and Carri, congratulations on receiving a 2006 LJSC Club Award.

Lebanon Junior Soccer Club - Club Award
Dolores Porrino

The final LJSC Club Award goes to a Board member who like Tom Hennessey (our Field Maintenance Director)last year, spends an enormous amount of time serving the LJSC "behind the scenes".

Hundreds of hours have gone into starting, developing and maintaining the LJSC Web site, www.lebanonjuniorsoccer.org.  In this age of the Internet, she has done an extraordinary job making the LJSC's information available to anyone interested.

Because the information in the Web site is so complete and current, using the web site saves everyone much time to find out what is going on within the LJSC, including Registration Forms, Bylaws, Meeting Notes, pictures, Meeting Dates, and information about Teams, Coaches, Games and Awards.

In addition, this fall she took over the Division Director position for both the U-14 Boys and U-14 Girls even though she does not have any children playing on either of these teams.  She coordinated coaches, players and made sure these older players had teams and quality coaches.

The LJSC is happy to award Dolores Porrino its 2006 Club Award for her time, efforts and expertise to get the LJSC Web site up and maintained, and also for helping out the entire U-14 group this fall.

(And on a side note, for also keeping her husband Mike on a pretty even keel.)

Lebanon Junior Soccer Club Coach of the Year
Liz Haynes

Obviously, the most important part of what we all do in the LJSC is provide a quality environment to coach the youths of Lebanon the game of Soccer.  Teaching the game we all love to those wide-eyed Ks, those busy-body 8s and 10s and then the 12s and 14s who have other choices but still love to play soccer, is a rewarding and incredible experience.

Having coached at all levels from Ks though high school, there is not a job I enjoy myself more then watching a player at ANY level really enjoy learning and playing the game of soccer.

This person has volunteered her time coaching Division 5 Recreational for several years at many levels as her daughter grew and advanced.  Even with her daughter in high school and no longer eligible to participate as a club player, this coach continues to dedicate her time to the girls of Lebanon.  her love of the sport can be seen on the practice field as well as on the sidelines.  Her enthusiasm is contagious and has rubbed off on many girls over the years.  As a coach, this person has contributed to the development of many soccer players who continued on to play soccer at the high school level.  She is always prepared and plans out each practice.  She is highly respected by both her players and their parents and is a credit to the LJSC and the Lebanon community.

It gives me great pleasure in naming Liz Haynes as our LJSC 2006 Coach of the Year.

Lebanon Junior Soccer Club Referee of the Year
James Clements

This person has done an excellent job with referee work this year.  His knowledge of the game of soccer and the rules is outstanding for his age and for being a first year referee.  He takes his job very seriously and always comes to each match assigned on time and well prepared for any encounter which may arise, whether it be recreational or competitive.  He keeps control of each match assigned and handles any difficult situations that may arise in a very professional manner while maintaining a level of fairness for both teams involved.  He also has taken the time to referee matches with the Nassiff's/CWSA Columbus Day Tournament which can be very challenging for a young referee.

He has played soccer for LJSC at the U10, U12 and U14 competitive levels, the Lebanon Middle School and is currently playing for the Lyman Memorial Boys Varsity soccer team and the Northeast united Premier Soccer club.  With this award, he has also been nominated for the Young Referee of the Year award for the Northeast District.

Lebanon Junior Soccer Club Volunteer of the Year
Julie Wardell

i don't have to tell you, our entire club is run by volunteers, and this award can easily be given to 15 - 20 different people for different reasons.  This year's award winner has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

This person has been our Fundraising Director for the last two years and has both streamline and improved the club's money making potential through her hard work and organization in this position.

She also spearheaded the tickets sales for the LJSC/lion's Breakfast held on 11/22.  She sold a great number of tickets to parents during practices and games and also stood at the LJSC "Under the Lights" Night and sold tickets.

She was also seen helping out at the LJSC/Lion's Breakfast at the FSC.

She also volunteered in the Concession Booth for the Lebanon Fun Day and coordinated the setup and stocking of the Booth.

This year our award winner also assumed the responsibilities of U8 Girls Division Director this fall, doing a great job coordinating the U8 Girls group with three new coaches, including team formation, coaches communication and party planning.

She also will serve as our LJSC Treasurer starting in 2007.

it gives me great pleasure in awarding the LJSC Volunteer of the Year award to Julie Wardell.
